Wedding Bells: 1st Reception Venue/Catering Meeting at the Penn Museum

Went to look at the Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology for a wedding reception. Everything looked very nice, except the dance area was separated from the dining area by a wall/giant arch. I loved the Chinese Rotundum, and the garden outside with the koi pond for cocktail hour. The reception can be booked for 5 hours, which seems like plenty of time to roam the 3rd floor exhibits.

We were informed by their exclusive caterer, Wolfgang Puck Catering (WPC), that all food is made at the Kimmel Center, and finished and plated at the museum kitchen. The menu options looked exquisite, especially the Beet and Goat Cheese Napoleons. I cannot wait to taste it! We have had (middle-aged) friends attend weddings at the museum before, with comments on the food ranging from “not good” to “not memorable.” All in all, it sounded pretty lackluster, which did not make sense with Wofgang Puck Catering in the equation. Well, Jenn of WPC told us that they had just taken over the museum account a little over a year ago. Prior to then, the caterer was Museum Catering. Mystery Solved!
